多谢! edchan 查的日期尤其仔细。 在我和朋友探讨这个日期的翻译方法是,出现了两种观点, 一种是查询万年历,翻译具体的日期,
(比方16th year of Chunxi Period) ;  一种则认为大可不必, 直译即可,比方“已酉”即直译为 Yiyou ,以便体现文化韵味, 特请教各位观点若何?

比方16th year of Chunxi Period) ;  --- to me that meant nothing,  what you should translate is:
in the Sung Dynasty, circa 1189 or around 1189 AD.  This to me and my countrymen would mean a lot.  There is a big diff between culture of 1189 vs 2005.  In that period, the Western culture was still uncivilized and knew barely how to record in parchment.  That is where the advantage of China over western lied.
