legalize prostitution in China? When pigs fly!

Chinese government will NEVER legalize prostitution and there is no doubt about it.  Otherwise, the socialism and " harmony society" will become a real farse in that prostitution is one of the evils which socialism is advocated to eliminate.

Needless to worry about Chinese people.  Those who against legalizing prostirution will always be the majority.

1. Socialism? I see no socialism in China. Where is it?

2. Majorities come and go. You would be surprised how quickly a situation could change. Let's consider porn, for example. In Western countries, a majority used to be against it, because of old religious influence. Nowadays, those who oppose pornography are in the minority. Why? Because people nowadays are more informed; they might not like it, but they know there is no harm in it, and they are also very much in favor of anyone exercising their rights of free speech.

That said, China doesn't have to legalize prostitution. There are some negative aspects of legalization as well, and the tolerance model is working just fine. But you should be aware that this is practically legalizing it without admitting it openly.

Only time and progression will tell.

Just let the principles of counterculture take its course.

Hellen1815: with due respect, I found your arguments not very impregnable and can be disposed of easily.
1.        There is no denying that “Most Chinese still have a conservative attitudes towards sex, they usually not talk  about sex , few talk very secretly”; I also agree that sex is part of life and “we should face it bravely.” But how could you draw a conclusion that prostitution should be legalized from that? Did you mean that prostitution is the very tool that removes the “feudal opinions” from people’s minds? If this was what you meant, then it was painfully wrong. Face sex bravely doesn’t mean that one should have the guts to find a hooker. It consists in the healthy attitude toward sex. Prostitution by all means reflects the distorted human nature. It is an unhealthy escape from not knowing how to handle with one’s instinct in the right way.  You are right, ‘’Maybe you also have this need’’. My suggestions are masturbation or making love with your wife. They are free of charge.
2.        Your remarks nullifies all the efforts China has made to bust prostitution.” why you didn’t take strong actions to ban it”, yes, China DID take strong actions to ban it. The reason why you think Chinese government did not do anything is that these actions left little visible accomplishment. Prostitution revived time and time again. But that’s the way it is. If all social ills could be easily and quickly squeezed out, there would have been a flawless world.
Yes, we cannot eliminate it NOW; that doesn’t mean we will give up and let it run its own course.
3.        Your understanding about socialism seems shallow. “Poverty is not socialism, socialism is to eliminate poverty" True. And maybe, as you mentioned above, China still have a long way to go to eliminate poverty. However, I don’t agree with you that prostitution should be used as economic booster. That is obviously not socialism and harmony society but prostitution-oriented developing country. How do you feel about it?
So much for today.  Thanks for your attention.
