Eyes and ears

That's an interesting expression.

"More is meant than meets the ear", obviously means that what someone has said doesn't reveal all the facts.

"Meets the ear" means what you hear with your ears when someone speaks to you. There is more to it than what you have heard about it, or, in other words, you haven't heard all the facts about it.

I've never heard of "meeting the ear" before. One would usually say, "there's more to it than meets the eye". This obviously means that what we see with our eyes in some particular situation doesn't reveal everything, and there are other hidden aspects that we need to be aware of.

"Meets the eye" could mean what you see with your eyes, or, in general, what you know about something, not only by seeing it, but also through hearing about it, reading about it, etc.
