Carl Rove is guilty of telling a media reporter that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA, which was a crime, but who told Carl Rove that about Plame?  Rove is a political hack, not an intelligence operative.

Who told Carl Rove?

Cheney spilled the beans about Plame.

Of the three senior insders who knew, only Cheney would have been cleared to have konwn, or would have been strong enough to find out.  The intelligence people who could say with certainty would immediately become cautious if someone like Rove or  "Scooter" Libby (Cheney's chief of staff) had asked.

However, Cheney had served in congress for many, many years, giving testimony in open and closed committees with all sorts of high ranking leaders.  He served as Defesne Secretary in the Gulf War, gaining stature there.  He served through 9/11, and helped put the country onto its wartime footing.  Only Cheney had the gravitas to learn Plame's CIA functons, and he decided to exposed them publicly press.

Dick Checney, whose physical health wassn't as good at yesterday's annual check-up, began the Plame scandal.

No one else seems to care about, so why should you?

The public isn't really into processes that intefere with winning the war.  So there's no reason to be out of step with the march of freedom in Iraq.

Also, many people have said Plame's status as a CIA operative was known to everyone who knew anything.  So being surprised by it is sort of like being really, really dumb.

Besides, Joe Wilson has written a book about it so he is getting a lot of money from the scandal.  That's the American way.
