Three men go to a hotel, the manager asked dollar 60 for the rent. Each of them gives dollar 20. the manager was actually wrong.

The actual rent was dollar 50. So he sends his servant to distribute dollar 10 among the three. He thought very sharply about it, and last he decided to give dollar 2 to each of them and rest he kept with him.

Now according to the visitors of the hotel, they paid dollar 18.
i.e. 18+18+18 = 54
and rest dollar 4 in his pocket

Total 54+4 = 58,
But they paid dollar 60, where has 2 dollar gone.

Missing $2?

Nothing happened to the $2. All the money is still there. Yes, they each ended up paying $18 each for a total of $54. Plus the $6 they got back is a total of $60—it’s all there. They were supposed to pay $50 but they paid $54, which makes sense because the bellhop kept $4.

Charges:
$50 for the room + $4 for the bellhop=$54
$60 initial charge - $6 refund = $54
Each paid $18, and $18 x 3 = $54

The trick is in the statement, “But they paid $60.”
The $54 is the total payment and $4 is a cost, not a payment! It just happens to add up to $58 giving the illusion of a missing $2.

answer to it

actually the manager did't get $ 60 for rent instead  of $54
the three men get $6 refund .
the manager get $4 tips
6+4=10
so  you should not plus 4 instead of  6
the $2  are in three men' s hands instead of manager
don't confuessed by the fake formula

*bored*

I first have to admit that I am just a middle school student.
And what you wrote for us to talk about is simply an article which I read "long long age"  in an examination paper of English.
