From what I have read, I found China culture became consevative from Song Dynasty, especially from Zhu Xi's Li Xue became superior in China society. In my understanding, Zhu Xi's Li Xue infleunt China society became very cilvilized, but also killed the energy of exploring something new, include the ugly rules to women's life. This was so much different from the Chinese culture in Han and Tang dynasty, which were full of energy and always willing to accept new stuff from out side world.

Yuan Dynasty was so short, but a good question is why the rich and advanced Song dynasty was destroyed by babarian Mongls? One can argu that Mongl conquered the whole world, China was the last one they conquered. But the question is, in those time, no one else was as advanced than Song China. Very strangely, Song dynasty was much richer than the past China dynasties, but it was the weakest.

Yuan dynasty collapsed too soon then was Ming dynasty. My feeling is Ming was as consevative as Song dynasty, rich but not strong. However it was a critical time in human history, this was the period of time that Europ finally walked though dark age, western philosophers appeared at this time, the modern philosophy was also established at this time. But, China was sleeping. When Ming dynasty collpased in mid of 1600s, the life for China and Chinese was already there--China was behind Europ, although Europeans were still very poor and Chinese were still much richer.

Qing dynasty was started from strong, the Machou dynasty did brought new energy into consevative Chinese culture. but still, not realized a new civilization from the west would supass China soon, and it happened in mid of 1800s.

Superiorty Complex became inferiorty complex by the consequent failed wars to western nations and japanese. Then China became no real government for 100 years.

We could assume if China develop modern philosophy in Ming dynasty or early Qing dynasty then China would be still NO. 1 in the world, we could assume if the 100 days reform was success, then China would be better than Japen now, we could also assume.... But, seems all the assumptions are wrong in logic, what had happened seemed much logical by history point of view.

The period of time that modern western philosophy developed in 1500s to 1700s, was so much similar to the period of time in China history--Warring Time, 2500 years ago. All major Chinese philosophy were born in this time. But, the golden time was over when Qin Shi Huang burnt the books and killed the scholars. So was this the time it was determined that would no industrial culture origin from China? Well, from Han dynasty Confucuse was regarded as national philosophy, the other philosophy were marginalized, it was probably the time China culture sooner or later would become consevative and lack of energy?
