I'm rather confused by these words, which are when,as,while. There seems to be no clear differences between them. I don't know how to use them correctly. Especially in the following 4 questions, I've no idea which one is the best choice.
1. Please tell John to come to my office____ you see him. ( as, which)
2. Be sure to write to us ____ you get home. ( while, when)
3. We rushed out to cover the cement ____ it began to rain. ( when, while)
4. We were about to start for the park___ he came. ( when, while)
Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot!

my remarks

To yyjbrenda:

You can use "as" when two things happen at the same time or over the same period of time.

Actually, it sounds more natural to me to say, "lease tell John to come to my office when you see him." I think "as" can be used to stress that "tell John .." and "..see him" should happen at the same time.

If you had not restricted the choices, I would have given my answers as follows:

3. We rushed out to cover the cement as it began to rain.
4. We were about to start for the park as he came.

Examples with "while"

Can you look after the children while I am out?

I fell asleep while I was watching television

We saw Ann while we were waiting for the bus.

Ann read a book while I watched television.
