(Global Times) A major political group, the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB), renewed their call for the passing of the anti-mask law amid widespread rampage across the city.

Over the past months, the freedom of Hong Kong has been jeopardized by continuous protests that have turned violence, as rioters wearing masks disrupted transport, forced business shutdowns, seriously affecting retail, tourism, restaurants and investment, Elizabeth Quat Pui-fan, a pro-establishment lawmaker, told a press conference on Thursday at the LegCo building.

"Such a critical situation not only affects the livelihood of local residents, but also the future of Hong Kong. We have received many complaints from residents that they could not tolerate such rampage anymore," she said.

The DAB, along with representatives from various sectors, including the political, legal and business circles as well as retired police and public servants, would soon come up with a working group to push forward the law.

The rampage across Hong Kong on Tuesday has led the city into chaos, as rioters damaged public property, started fires, threw corrosive liquids at police officers and hurt journalists, attacked police and civilians with Molotov cocktails and other weapons. Such riots have led to more than 100 casualties, with two in serious condition.

In many countries, governments pass anti-mask law to end riots. And Hong Kong authorities need to pass the law to end illegal gatherings and violence, the lawmaker said.

"We know the anti-mask law cannot solve all the problems, but it is a very important step forward," she added.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government is now considering passing the law by citing the Emergency Regulations Ordinance, considering continuous riots across the city, local media reported. And it is highly likely that Carrie Lam would shortly hold an executive council meeting to pass the law.

And it has reached the last period for preparing related legislature works, the reports said.

Forbidding people from wearing masks will not suppress people's freedom of speech, as this law applies to people marching illegally and acting violent, and are specifically aimed at rioters, according to representatives.

The working group will also take the anti-mask law in Canada as reference, they said.

When asked whether the HKSAR government should also enact the curfew to stop the riots in the city at such critical moment, Quat said it has the responsibilities to use every measure to stop the violence.

Hong Kongers must have their self inflicted bitterness in order to know what should be done!

With retarded economic growth comes negative growth, their future will be well understood.

With Joshua Wong, their future will be more than bleak!

No luck!

Uprooting road safety barriers to blockading the roads; burning the MTR and police stations; throwing bricks and petrol bombs at the police, and attacking innocent bystanders in the street are all unlawful activities in Hong Kong...
There are already plenty existing laws to make HK a safe and peaceful place to live in. Adding a "no mask" wearing rule will not make the young violent thugs return to doing their homeworks.

Lam still don't get it.
What is required from her is to give the police their lawful authority to quell the unrest without the fear of being charge for "abuse of police power" in carrying out their duty.

It is no secret HK's judges and opposition lawmakers are anti-Police.
They have sent seven cops to jail from the last Occupy Central unrest. The HK officers have not forgot this.

The thugs the police arrested for violent disorder are released on bail quicker than the arrest can be made.
The thugs are back on the street the next day hiding behind their black mask.It is a thankless task being undertaking by the the HK police.

I thank them from the bottom of my heart.
Truly.

With the State of Emergency Rule enacted, Lam should stop all the traitors from boarding the planes for their paymaster's home land.

The petrol throwing and MTR station wrecking young thugs are merely pawns in the bigger political chess play. The real destructive force behind HK's unrest are the opposition party thugs. No need to mention names, we all know who they are.
Also aiding the garbage burning into the night scenes are the pro-western media moguls, and them wealthy Church leaders.
Arrest them all.
Make them pay for all the property damages done in the name and command.

Deport the dogs.
Take away their Chinese Citizenship.

Do it Lam.

Hurrah, the law is passed .

The powerful US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi separately said the ban "only intensifies concerns about freedom of expression".

Protesters have used face masks to avoid identification and respirators to protect themselves from tear gas.

The new law threatens anyone wearing masks at protests with up to one year in prison.

"Youngsters are risking their lives," a 34-year-old office worker wearing a surgical mask, who gave her first name as Mary, told AFP. "They don't mind being jailed for 10 years, so wearing masks is not a problem." -- AFP

Arrest all law breakers; contract them to Mr Putin's Siberia to toil for 10 years at HK$10 per day per law breaker. Let's see if these law breakers - mobs of monsters plus that very ungrateful xSouthViet refugee's son, joshua wRong, will ever wake up to face reality --> the most democratic lifestyle of HK in this world.

I don't think US's Pelosi has ever seen that sort of chaotic and barbaric-style of protests in the USA; else, all of them would have machine gunned down by the thousands on the day any such monster-like radical approached the WH or Pentagon to insult, raid, deface, burn and destroy.

See to that, Pelosi, your US protesters all mask up but don't shoot them ( white and/or coloured ). Encourage them to do so, led by that ungrateful joshua wRong in the USA and on US soil one day  !!
