Visitors to Macao increasing tremendously [Copy link] 中文

Visitor arrivals to Macao totaled 3.40 million in May, up by 25.6 percent year on year, the Special Administrative Region (SAR)'s statistic service said on Friday.

The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overnight visitors rose by 10.3 percent year on year to 1.60 million, while same-day visitors surged by 43.3 percent to 1.80 million.

The average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day year on year to 1.2 days. The overnight visitors stayed an average of 2.3 days, up by 0.1 day. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of same-day visitors held stable at 0.2 day.

The DSEC report added that the visitors from the Chinese mainland increased by 30.4 percent year on year to 2.43 million, mainly from the provinces of Guangdong and Hunan. Visitors from South Korea (65,763) and the Hong Kong SAR (581,780) went up by 1.2 percent and 20.1 percent respectively year on year.

motherland introduces this flying land as a toursit attrtaction, never mentioning the thriving business there

but ask HKers what it means to "cross the sea", it has the same mindset of those commoners lingering in food markets waiting for tips

Not surprised at all!  The Chinese have gambling in their blood!  That is about the only attraction in Macao!
