China government flaws all along her way. First, putting the cart before the horse repeated itself  ...
For unknown reasons, people are above law while others are not, especially in rural areas, where folks do not know what law is.

The reasons are not unknown outside China. In communist China, those reasons were not acknowledged, although they have been there all along (and can never be eradicated).

People are greedy in every society, and if they are not given legitimate ways to practise that (for example through competitive market economy), they will find illegal ways. That makes communism the worse option in any society that needs to develop - and all societies do.

When China introduced elements of market economy, it failed to deliver the socialist constraints that more developed capitalist countries had to develop long ago. For China, market economy was like putting someone in driver's seat who had never taken any driving classes. Crashes were unavoidable. And still are.

Consumers in China generally don't demand their rights; they happily gobble down whatever food, prepared in the most unhygienic restaurant kitchens and either served on the spot or delivered to their homes or offices!  When they see poor food handling, they do not object;  for instance when a food handler collects money from a customer and, using the same filthy fingers, pick up food to serve the next customer, the latter does not object to it!  Food that accidentally drops on the dirty kitchen floor is picked up, put back into the cooking pot,and served to customers!

I don't necessarily agree with that. I see that there is huge market for upscale supermarkets and restaurants, that give an impression of higher quality - even if that's false impression. Chinese consumers do vote with their feet when they are given enough information.

And that's where the problem is - access to, or lack of, that information. It is easy to fool Chinese consumers with claims that would be easily proven lies somewhere else. And while every public scandal increases consumer awareness, it also works to create opportunities for new lies.

Agreed! Public transport is the way to go!  No chance being cheated right left center, just leave it to the drivers to navigate the treacherous traffic conditions on Chinese roads.

Chinese communism is the exception, it has transformed a poor country into the world's second largest economy and lifted millions out of povery!  No mean task for a nation of 1.4 billion!

Nope. Chinese communism was buried with market economy that Deng allowed to restart. Until that time, China and Chinese communism was (thanks to size of population) headed to disaster bigger than anything the world had seen.

Those economic reforms transformed the country away from communism, into second largest economy, and eventually into reduction on poverty. Poverty that the Chinese communsm had created and succesfully sustained.
