More Chinglish from you!  So hard to comprehend!

When you wrote, 'so hard to understand', that shows you are a Chinese.

Do you know the correct term to use? Bet you do not know it.

Hard is the opposite of soft. In comprehension, it happens to be the incorrect word used commonly by most Chinese!

SHAME AND DISGRACE!

'economic reforms' is not contrary to communist tenets

Economic reforms in general are necessarily not.

But in context of Chinese communism previously banning private property, the reforms toward market economy (and not just generic economic reforms), were a complete turn-around. So much, that the leadership itself changed the vision for the country from "communism" to "socialism with Chinese characteristics".

This could not have happened under previous communist government of China. To further illustrate this point, current government even bans celebrating the old leadership - they must go to Hong Kong or elsewhere to do their Maoist celebrations.

I give credit to the Chinese leadership for having the foresight to enage in economic reforms to improve the livelihood of its people. '

I re-iterate that China is still ruled by a party identifying itself as communist, but that's all there is.

Everything that China has achieved since opening up, is a result of combining market economy and the "Chinese characteristics" part of their socialism. This success has nothing to do with socialism, or communism.

You can credit the leadership if you want, but do credit it for the correct things.

You have conveniently ignored China's Anti corruption drive

No I have not, which is why I wrote "was utterly corrupt". I recognize the current leadership's achievements in reducing corruption, but I do also recognize it as indication of how utterly corrupt the country WAS before this.

I know shops here, which had to shut down when their clients stopped buying expensive gifts to government officials, and when the government ordered military staff to stop profiting by renting out people's property, entire neighbourhoods of entertainment venues were shut down.

Those were heritage of Chinese communism into the reform era.

even pursuing corrupt officials who had fled overseas!  This is something many democratic and corrupt countries can take a lesson from China, such as India, S Korea, Japan, Brazil, etc etc!

What current leadership has done to correct the situation, would have been possible under any ideology, but of course it was much easier with the "Chinese characteristics".

Didn't a former South Korean president go to jail? And Trump is being investigated, right? Don't be so naive as to assume that former leaders of China would have been utterly clean. Nobody just cared, because it was way of the country, and under "Chinese characteristics" they were on top of the food chain.
