The Canadian Government is currently embroiled in a scandal of immense proportion, involving political interference in a criminal case.  The Justice Minister has resigned in protest at political intereference into the criminal case against Canadian company, SNC-Lavalin, a compay which has been sanctioned by the UN for its wrongdoings in Libya!  Trudeau rushed through Parliament a piece of legislation to take effect retroactively to allow the company to avoid criminal prosecution!  So, who says Canadian politicians don't interfere with the process of law?  Canadian law is enforced selectively; those with political connections get away scott free! The Canadian Government has lost its credibility, and one must question its claim that there is no political inteference in the arrest of Huawei CFO Ms Meng!

Agreed.

Justin Trudeau doesn't come close in matching his dad's clean record of public service.

I suspect there is quite a bit of under-the-table money exchanged here, or else why would Justin want to help a company sanctioned by the UN for its wrongful deeds in Libya?

job ...

If jobs alone could entice Justin to enact revised laws to help SNC-Lavalin in decriminalizing the company's activities, then Huawei could have brought many thousands of jobs to Canada when the 5G platform is fully implemented.

The fact that he didn't try to exert similar influence in the Meng case shows that much more is at stake -- for example, Trump's threat of having additional illegal tariffs on Canadian steel-aluminum exports.
