Instead of maintaining the order, they're the ones putting people's lives in danger.

Interesting that Switzerland is not on the list. The people who served the armed forces brought there Hardware home. (AK MG RPG GRL)

I support any measures to reduce the number of fireams held by the general population, especially handguns and Assault rifles.

China has the right idea, keep guns out of reach of the general population, especially handguns.  Research over the past 20 to 30 years has demonstrated that if someone really wants to kill another person they will use whatever means springs to hand, eg, knife, blunt force trauma weapons (shovel, stone, brick etc) as the objective is to kill the other person.  Having all sorts of firearms within easy reach simply increases the murder rate as people just react in a blind fury/rage rather than having a few minutes to calm down and start being rational in their thinking.

As an ex-gun owner including a couple of assault rifles I have to say that the Australian Federal Governments tightening of the gun laws in the wake of the Port Arthur massacre was a good idea.  Some of the arguments presented by the mass media were false however as criminals in Australia cannot legally purchase or own firearms.  The new laws (circa 1994-5) were overall well crafted and the buy back scheme was highly successful as owners were paid the then current purchase price. This meant that some of us made quite a profit.  My heavy caliber rifles are held for me in South Africa by a friend, as I moved them there as licensing them was almost impossible in Western Australia.
