Some high-end restaurants were found charging extra "corkage fees" ranging from 100 yuan ($15.63) to 800 yuan to customers bringing their own bottles to New Year's Eve banquets, Laodong Daily reported. "The average minimum consumption on a New Year's Eve dinner is 500 yuan, excluding drinks," an employee at a high-end restaurant told media. "If you bring more than three bottles of wine, we must charge a corkage fee." Should consumers be forbidden from bringing their own drinks?
