Democracy, When open and fair, is the least objectionable form of government.
For all of China's rec ...
Western-style democracy, looks good but only on paper.
As you said, it would be the best when open and fair, however, even in the western countries where democracy is the norm, it is not open and fair. (It pretends to be, but it is not.)
It sounds good for everybody to be able to sound off your opinions on government policies and leadership, but I would like you to study a famed prank titled "Dihydrogen Monoxide Hoax", that vividly demonstrates how the overwhelming opinions of the clueless public could lead to disatrous decision making. You got Hitler who was actually elected to power, you got Brexit which was voted for in a referendum, the list goes on and on.
Now let's talk about the press in the west that is far from free and independent as you claim it is. I bet you know the media outlet Huffington Post, which just consistently casts Donald Trump in a negative light, no matter what he said and what he did, is it an objective and balanced approach to journalism, though I am not a fan of the US president myself? You may remember the most of the major media outlets just threw their collective weight behind Hilary Clinton in the election, hyping up her virtues and suitability for the top office. Then what eventually happened? Could you see the stark irony that is thrust in the face of what you call free press? What you call as free press, is virtually wantonly undisciplined and chaotic, that in essence only represents the few super rich, and has lost touch with the general public. So please stop talking about your free press, it is really pathetic, isn't it?
True democracy is a myth, even in the west, no matter how hard you beat the drum about it.
