Can we trust the Murdoch media? THAT is the question.

I'd say sure you can trust it, about as much as the faries in the bottom of your garden gaining a rocket and flying to the moon.

There are 6 major news outlets in the USA that control some 80% of the media.  When ever you allow few players to control the media then the standards of journalism will plummet and so on. Add to this the issue of many US journalists being educated at a couple of locations (Brown for example) who all write the same way and gather information using the same tools then you end up with a bland, boring and biased media with each major corporation reflecting it's owners political stance.

Can we trust the Murdoch media? THAT is the question.

I never deign to believe what Fox News-which is owned by him-tells me. Most journalists working at Fox News are vainglorious, self-aggrandizing souls ; only Chris Wallace, who's a news anchor working at Fox News, has the guts to slam his conservative-leaning colleagues for slashing CNN and calling it the promulgator of fake news.

The news that Bill O’Reilly-who was sacked by Fox News after being charged with sexual harassment-  has been rehired by Fox News, if anything, accentuates the fact that Murdoch himself doesn't care about morality. He only cares about TV ratings and what can be done to gee up the faithful who happen to be Republicans.

In a sense, it could be argued that Fox News would be a popular one in China if its shows  were to be allowed to be aired in China, in light of its propensity to drum up support for  nationalism or exceptionalism.  CCTV or other Chinese TV channels also use this tactic to play up their images as guardians of patriotism if not jingoism.

Your local newspaper is the only rag you can trust...

Local Chinese newspapers? Grrrr. I gather that  only retired people living in China would take the trouble to read local Chinese newspapers as a way to wile away the time.  By contrast,  Youngsters living in China would prefer to surf the Internet to find out what's happening worldwide.

Another reason  learned youngsters are loth to read local Chinese newspapers is such newspapers don't even care about writing quality; their lackadaisical  journalists don't even know how to craft Chinese sentences beautifully nor  the need to  hew to pukka  writing standards championed by their foreign counterparts.

Can we trust the Murdoch media? THAT is the question.

It's a matter of preference as well as one's own political leanings. Most journalists working at Fox News are waspish conservatives using Fox News as a platform to give vent to their anger and antipathy towards liberalism. Fans of Fox News happen to belong to the same camp, particularly the supremacists scornful of pluralism or the wrathful  racists  abominating non-white immigrants.
