I watched the China-Uzbekistan world cup qualifier match last night and felt totally disappointed in the team as well as Chinese football. China's hope to advance to 2018 FIFA World Cup finals dimmed as they lost 2-0 to Uzbekistan, collecting only one point from four matches played and standing last but one in the six-team Group B. I mean China can do well in many sports and has yielded some magnificent results, esp in Olympic games. Why China sucks at soccer? Some say that China is not good at team sports, but Chinese women volleyball team won the Olymic gold this year with their amazing team spirit. China coach Gao Hongbo announced his resignation at the post-match press conference. Is he accountable for the failure? What is China so bad at soccer?

Why is China so poor at soccer?
You can not make a country good by throwing money at a sport and expect immediate results.

becoming good at a sport (internationally) takes many many many years and usually is the result of it becoming part of the culture.
Many of the top international players have lived soccer since they were born and not grown up in a 'hot-house' environment.
Soccer is one sport that 'hot-housing' children will not produce the desired results, as may happen with other sports
