Recently there is a growing frequency of forumites using foul language. So we'd like to make a proposal that can potentially solve the problem. Hopefully this will greatly improve the China Daily forum. Your suggestions are welcome to help us weed out foul language and other bad behavior.

We will start a thread later based on your suggestions and punish those who fail to comply. Anyone can report us the offences in the thread with the screen shot so that we can look into and deal with them.

Punishment System
If a forumite breaks a rule....
-Once
-Verbal warning and a deduction of 200 points

-Twice
-Verbal warning and a deduction of 500 points.
-Temporary ban (depending on severity of violation)

-Three times
-Extended temporary ban

-Four or more times
-Permanent ban

If you have any ideas/suggestions please leave a comment on this thread. Thanks for your participation.

What's the time limit on these offenses?
I've been called so many names and insulted by so many members over the past five years that
over half the regulars here would have been permanently banned long ago if there is no time limit.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

You can suggest the time limit on the offenses, eg on the second or the third time.

You can suggest the time limit on the offenses, eg on the second or the third time.

I would suggest the clock starts ticking on the first offense and keeps ticking for a month.
If a second offense occurs within that month the clock is reset and is reset for each subsequent offense.

If no further offenses are recorded for a month an offense is deducted.

So, in effect, the 5th offense could be gotten within one month from the first and then the permanent ban.
The 5th offense could also be gotten as far as five months from the first offense if each offense was spread out
to slightly less than one month apart.

If there are four offense accumulated then it would take four months before all offenses expire.

But it should still be up to the discretion of the editors here to punish blantant insults, such as suggesting
someone's wife sells herself for money, with an immediate lifetime ban.

Also, one very active member here makes no effort any longer to deny he has received a lifetime ban under another
well know name. A moderator actually nominated this member for the five MVP of the year contest knowing full well
this member had been banned for life under another name.

A ban for life should actually mean a ban for life.

Those are my suggestions.

A BAN FOR LIFE.....PLUS FIVE YEARS WOULD BE BETTER...

Posters who post the same tired off-topic comments are a bigger problem than 'foul language ' which I have seen little of.
I am tired of seeing an interesting topic hijacked by the same posters making the same comments on almost every thread.
It makes it look as if either no one is moderating or that they are paid commentators.

They should get one warning and then be banned for life.

By the way,  the 'ban it ' solution is on par with similar 'ban it ' solutions suggested for a myriad of problems that would be better served with a more thoughtful solution.
If basic forum guidelines were implemented more consistently and fairly, there would be fewer reasons to ban someone
