Since Beijing announced the new policy forthe reform of education for college entrance exams. It has been a hot topic. One of the key points is that students have three required subjects includingChinese, mathematics and English and three selected subjects from six subjectsincluding physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history and geography, whenthey apply for the college entrance exams. In other words, there is not a limitto science and liberal arts any more. It is really a good step forward, thoughit was a hard decision.
As we know, China has the largest student population for colleges now inthe world. It is said that the number was around 37 million up to 2015. However, the professional education in China lags behind. Most of parents hope theirkids to go to university, but many of the outstanding universities do not offerprofessional majors. In fact, students did not prefer choosing professionalmajors to be their career before. When they have to choose it, they feel shameful.
Generally, most of education in college should be professionaleducation, which can actually meet the need in community. So we can see that itis quite out of balance in China. It is the main reason why students are notqualified for their new jobs after graduation. Even some of them find it hardto get a suitable job. It is a big problem of education in both middle schooland college. The new policy focuses on solving this problem. Surely, there is along way to go.
How do you think about this matter? Do you have any advice?
