With the public online evaluations developing rapidly, more and more colleges have put it into practice. However, to rate professors online, frankly speaking, means that some of professors are confronted with unfair treatments in some degrees. |
On the one hand, most of students tend to evaluate the professors 'teaching by their moods. To put it in another way, provided that the style of teaching makes them feel too strict, they are likely to give their teachers bad evaluations. But, the professors who are evaluated badly may be equipped with strong teaching ability. As the saying goes,a strict teacher produce excellent studends, which has becone a principle obeyed by many teachers. Furtherly, the reason why the teacher is willing to play a strict role before students is that she or he expects students to study hard and have a bright future. However, not all students would like to understand their teachers by heart. As far as l am concerned, it is so unfair for what teachers do.
On the other hand, most students also tend to evaluate by professors 'appearance. Obviously, the professor who has a good look means that he or she has a more stronger competitive ability, no matter how the teaching ability is. As we all know, many colleges'managers award teacher depending on their teaching performance s. Assuming that managers regard public online evaluations as a principle, that means the professors who have not a outstanding look, but have the real ability would be treated unfairly.
Inevitablely, the existence of this system has some advantages. According to what students evaluate, professors can make adjustments more easily so that the methods of teaching can meet students'interests instantly.
In the end, strictly speaking, there are more disadvantages for evaluating online as far as l see.
