Why would you put petrol in a person to turn him into a marksman and shoot scalpers? You have a mu ...

Talking is cheap that's why you sound so aggrandizing. You should apply for human resources.

You unwittingly supported my point albeit in a somewhat sarcastic way.

I did not 'unwittingly' support you; I actually agreed with you on that point!

You were more fortunate than me.  The Peoples' Hospital I went to for a persistent cough and cold conned me with very expensive medicines which I later found out was available from local pharmacies at a fraction of what the hospital charged me. One item alone cost me 400 yuan, total bill for a cough and cold amounted to 800 yuan.  That was the first and the last time I ever visited that Government hospital!  They scalp foreigners!

It's a similar situation all over the world. There are people waiting for months on end for treatmen ...

This might be true where you live but it's not true in the United States. If you have an emergency in the US, EVERY hospital Emergency room is legally required to take you or transport you to the nearest facility in case they don't have room. It does not matter if you can pay or not.

For an elective procedure, there is no waiting. You schedule it with your physician and that's the time it's done.
