Nah. The British then never viewed Hongkong as part of the U.K.  That explains why Britain didn't  ...

as what I have been told, before the joint declaration signed in 1980s, most of the senior government posts were taken by the british.  Only after the declaration, more local civil servants got promoted to senior positions.  The 1st chinese to take on the most important post of the financial secretary happened in 1995, 2 yrs before returning to China. This person later became the 2nd chief executive but his integrity is probably the worst of the 3 chief executives so far.  He is also the only cantonese of the 3. It's said that property tycoons had benefited the most during his reign. From a hindsight, what a wicked pick.

Btw, despite of hk's renowned economic affluence and being benefited from both the east and west civilization, hk's gini index is in line with many backward and poor countries. All the top property tycoons are of cantonese origin.  Why?

In "normal countries" the home supporters of football teams would always boo the visiting teams. It would be very abnormal if they did not do so.

UK teams should not play international games.

We have enough evidence that some nationalities ca ...

Your two points are not consistent: for example many teams have played in football stadiums where their supporters have been banned.

Two points about your argument here: you strongly criticise the use of Cantonese in Hong Kong yet this would apply mainly to its spoken differences to Mandarin. As I understand it the written forms of the Chinese language are basically similar in HK and the mainland, with slightly more complicated characters and a wider lexicon being maintained in HK just as also occurs in Taiwan ( another part of China (?) or would you have them renounce much of the characteristics of their anguage as well ? ). If you want to assert the "official status" of Mandarin in China and elsewhere then you should also admit the reality of hundreds of different local dialects where pronunciation of Chinese words varies greatly and differs strongly from "received" Mandarin which you might find spoken only truly by some residents of Beijing. What do you propose doing to all of these dialect variations ?

You repeat your argument that HK benefitted from "favourable circumstantial factors". As I asked before, what other kinds of factors are there ? The acts of god, of mother nature, of an alien cosmos, of statistically provable scientific factors, of three little pigs ? Every country and people on earth may derive good or harm from "circumstantial factors". What else is there but the factors of each and every circumstance ? "Change of circumstance will change hk's fate easily" - so what ? Is not the same true for China, Japan, Fiji, Antarctica, Mozambique, beautiful downtown Dapto ?

Booing and booing during the visiting national anthem are two different things.

Booing is booing. Apples are apples. Dogs are dogs. Football is football. You can't bring a "mens sana" argument into the behavior of a crowd of thousands, especially gee'd up football supporters.
