The university campuses have become hot tourist attractions in China. During holidays, many tourists flock to visit the universities, especially the famous ones. Peking university and Tsinghua university, the two most famous universities in China, are the most popular among these tourists. In summer holiday, parents take their children to visit those renowned unversities to taste academic air there. At the return of the trip, they would be motivated to learn harder to become a member in those universities.

Shoulld the university campus be open to tourists? Opinions vary. Some people say it should not be open tourists. The university authorities are constantly complaining that tourists have disturbed the life of the students and teachers. Some people, however, say the prohibition of tourists on the university campus is neither desirable nor possible.

A university or more specifically an education environment is the nucleus from which a nation's thoughts and civilization should originate. For people who value knowledge and wisdom its the epicentre of sacredness.

Only a society COMPREHENSIVELY bankrupt in ideas will have thoughts of turning its universities into a place of "JACK OF ALL TRADES BUT MASTER OF NONE" entertaining tourists many who probably don't even respect knowledge and wisdom. No wonder China cannot excel - it has people who think like that in the upper echelon. Its telling. With such a huge territory compared to the likes of England, France and Germany, Chinese tourism still needs to depend on its universities - then its better to scrap the tourism industry altogether.

If anyone in a company dares to suggest opening its R & D centre for tourism, the head of that dept who suggested to the last one at the bottom should be sack en bloc to protect the company's survival. Don't you Chinese feel shameful that you can't even create enough tourism with such huge territory? Or are you guys just plain dumb?

In my opinion, there are different ways to get the answer for opening the campus for the tourists.

1) It is a free advertisement for campus. In fact, open the campus for tourists is not only in China but also in foreign county . When you travel in US or UK, especially parentage travel, most of travel agency will introduce the travel route to Cambridge or Oxford to you and your kids.
2) It is a good chance for you and your kids know the famous campus. Why so many parents would like to send their child come to abroad for visit famous campus as they want to give the impression of the campus for their child and encourage them to go abroad studying.
3) It is a good way for government to boost the tourism.  Now more and more foreigners come to China study in pecking university or other famous universities. Their coming boost China economy  and traditional culture.

On the other hand, campus should strength the management of open area and keep the regulation of visitors.
