[size=1.125](CNN)Turkey's air force shot down an unidentified aircraft that had entered Turkish airspace near the Syrian border, Turkish armed forces said in a statement Friday.

[size=1.125]The aircraft was shot down after it did not respond to three warnings from the Turkish air force, according to the statement.
