Just that it is ridiculous for some foreigners to preach to China how wonderful the system is

He wasn't saying that, even if he thinks it. He was complaining about a specific piece of legislation - the Patriot Act. I merely pointed out that it is the democratic system which allows people to trash that sort of law if they want to, when directly voting for their leaders and representatives.

Does democracy mean ...

Not speaking out when your governments are invading other nations and tearing up the Human Rights charters?

Huh? Democracy has nothing to do with what people talk about specifically - it's about giving them free choice as to who they vote for, what they read, can say in public, etc. I don't think you really understand democracy at all if you're going to make such strange comments.

Anti-War T-Shirts featuring the names of 3,461 troops who died in Iraq

The  three shirts on this page feature the names of troops killed in Iraq. List of names is preceded by larger text that reads "U.S. Troops Who Died in Iraq from March 20, 2003 Through May 29, 2007." List of 3,461 fallen is in alphabetical order.

Selling these three shirts is illegal in five states and may soon be illegal nationwide.  With your support, we will continue to sell these shirts in all 50 states until the troops come home or they throw us in jail, whichever comes first.

Why, in a democracy, would they ban a T-shirt?

In practice Sometimes Democracy just a word that means "I don't agree and
they don't listen to me".Somethimes it sounds like a perfect political system that
every one want.Maybe you can use "HEVEN" as a substitute and no confuse in it
at any rate....

I think why people want a theoretical Democracy. They just say what they want
the problem is what are they really want.

What democracy in the west means:

(1) More "freedom" for their young generations so they can become sluts and lazy ass punks.

(2) Finding it harder to afford basic items and drowning in debt quicker as their politicians waste loads of money attacking other nations.

(3) Implementing preemptive strikes at will.

(4) Justifying all wars and killing of innocents for resources , trade and influences by attaching words like "Freedom" and "democracy" after every sentence.

(5) Letting war criminals like Bush, Cheney and Blair off the hook.

(6) Suppressing natives and ethnic minorities using a host of racist policies.

(7) "Terrorists" tortured and sexually abused like that in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib by US marines.

(8) Massacres by the FBI, as in Waco,  are covered up.

and so on!

If you look at the most peaceful countries where the quality of life is high, you are looking at the Scandinavian countries where democracy is flourishing at the moment and there is great transparency in the government.

Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden

These are countries without serious corruption problems, because the press is free to criticize and people are free to give their oppinion. Politicians are not able to play the game without citizens knowing about it. This is how governments should work in every single country in the world.

Democracy, when done right, means constant competition between different ideas.

Without competition and transparency, there is going to be stagnation and abuse of power.

A) Finland for example, has no slums like several other countries in Europe. There is a minimum allowance for every Finnish citizen if he doesnt have a job or has problems adapting. It´s 5500 yuan (550euros) a month.

B) We have the best education available for youngsters, it scores the highest points in PISA comparisons. Education is COMPLETELY FREE in Finland. As a result rich people cant take an advantage or buy a free pass for their children, every person has earn his/her place in a university by doing well in a test.

Why do we have these things? Because people in this country decided that it was the best thing to do, that´s what political freedoms are. Power to shape the society.

That´s how society should take care of its weakest.

Then why none of these stable countries have strong military? Why don't they dominate world economy? Why are they less known to people than countries like the U.S., China, Russia, Japan, France, Britain, India, Australia, Iran, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico?

Don't you think that it's a bit strange to cite Scandinavian countries as an example? Countries with the highest tax burden and the lowest population density in Europe. The whole of Scandinavia has less inhabitants than Greater Beijing.

It was and still is very easy to govern small countries/entities (population) and it needs gigantic efforts to run countries like China and India.
