Snowden guilty in court of public opinion

Popularity 3Viewed 5747 times 2013-6-26 09:11 |System category:News| opinion, public

He had his chance and he blew it.

The NSA’s intrepid whistleblower, who had the biggest non story of the century, is currently thought to be sharing his laptops, phones and hard drives with the Russians, knowingly or not, just like he probably did with the Chinese, knowingly or not.

If anyone believes an NSA spy passed through China and Russia without the contents of his person being dipped by the intelligence men in suits then I would suggest a career at McDonalds or Burger King.

That’s the problem with Edward Snowden’s narrative the plot didn’t make sense from the start and still does not.

He said he wanted to stay in Hong Kong and face justice. Then legged it with a little head start, I would suggest. Current destination listed unknown but probably not too far from an FSB download machine is my best bet as hundreds of journalists await a Cuban cocktail with no sign of the espionage world of Where’s Wally?

The spying saga has gone from bad to diabolical and the narrative he dangled to the baying world is falling apart quicker than a Silk Market ‘Gucci’ bag.

He sadly had a great chance to be a digital Che Guevara. The court of public opinion was actually on his side and has great sympathy for people who risk their lives to tell them the US was storing their intimate conversations.

But joining the Wikileaks circus was the worst move Snowden made in a string of questionable decisions I think he will come to regret.

When he has finished his world tour of America’s enemies, the cheers from his fellow homeland folk won’t be so loud.

He has now become a political pawn in an axis of enemies and anyone of them will sell him out for a dime let alone a free wish from the word’s No.1 superpower. He has served his purpose for all and now faces being served to the wolves.

This is what happens when espionage and politics collide.

It looks that you don't agree his action.
I also think he will regret what he had done.

You are an effective writer however Snowden's fate is not necessarily as bleak as you have it seem. It is up to Edward Snowden who got caught stealing and lying. If Edward Snowden corrects his mistakes in public and rebalances his own public accounts by himself, without requesting instructions, and separates wrong from right by himself without needing explanations, he can ask the public to allow for him being able to start to live a new life. We the people know we sometimes do some things in childhood we stop doing when we grow up.

The White House staff on average prefer decent society. The Obama family and administration are for the middle class, upholding the American principle of each individual having a fair chance to have good results of good work done in an honest trade system. The National Security Agency is for the security of the nation. Canada may be imploding due to Canadians' -- on average -- inability to agree upon something... it's a cultural habit to disagree. Cf the National Energy Programme debates in Pierre Trudeau's era when Canadians would have mutually profited by simply agreeing on something instead of nothing. Who be Edward Snowden? Time will tell.
