Laughin' at AA

Most of filmmakers are awfully dying for winning the Oscars, cuz it embodies the highest recognition and affirmation over thier abilities, and above all, the award winner will wear the aura of the Oscars henceforward—a lifetime pass to show biz.

However, it’s overwhelmingly and exceedingly difficult for filmmakers from China mainland to win the Oscars, making us reminiscent of the Nobel involuntarily; it seems that the Oscar and the Nobel have been against we Chinese since their inception, to my way of thinking, the reason why it is highly and dearly hard for Chinese to win the Oscars and the Nobel is that the western countries have been exerting a kind of entertainment and culture boycott and seal-off over us to guard against the penetration of China's entertainment and culture into their bossdom to influence their control and stability; we may as well recollect our literary giants such as Luxun, Laoshe, Bajin, Linyutang, Beidao, and the greatest discovery of synthetic bovine insulin and all that, all the above-mentioned are definitely qualified for winning the Nobel prize, but the grim fact is that the Nobel did not choose us at all, which sinks our heart and hurts our feelings way too much. Therefore, we need not think no end of the Oscars and the Nobel. Once we think less of them, they will deliver the awards to us. The best example is that the Nobel Committee awarded Mo Yan its literature prize right out of the blue. The other gratifying news heartening Chinese is Taiwanese director Ang Lee won his second AA. So the best way for us to treat the Oscars and the Nobel is to let them take their own course. Cuz the material targets of our own films are Chinese masses, whose public praises are better than the Oscars, and there is no need for us to make films only for the sake of winning the Oscars, if so, the film nature will sour.

So just be ourselves!

May our Chinese films blaze its own road!

Long Live China and Chinese People!

At last, I wanna employ Alghieri Dante’s words to conclude my passage-“follow your own course, and let people talk”!

Yes, why should we care about winning Oscars? You can't make foreigners like drinking Chinese tea.
