Is it a way to feed idlers?

Popularity 1Viewed 1750 times 2016-6-6 14:14 |Personal category:social concern|System category:News| techniques, problem, without, people, decide

People in Switzerland are going to do a public voting today to decide if any Swiss people can earn 2500 Swiss franc (equal to 16000 yuan) each month without any condition. That means any Swiss people will have that money without working. Swiss people worry that techniques in various areas will take the place of human, so they are facing a problem of losing jobs. The movement of voting has been pushing forward since 2013. Pushers believe that they will live a respected life in this way.

Is it a way to feed idlers? There is a saying “No pain no gain.” It is obvious that Swiss people are enjoying a good welfare life. When someone gets money without working someone will offer more, because the money is from the same basket. When the basket has no enough money to share, the government will look for more money from other channels. Therefore, some of the Swiss people will work harder to feed those idlers.

Is it a good way to push the development of the community? What do you think about it?

I think it is a good idea. The best thing about this idea is that it will give security to all. Western societies claim to offer people 'human rights' but the poor do not have a choice between working or not working because western governments require citizens to look for work for them to get welfare. So if a western citizen is poor and decides not to work then the western government will leave that citizen with no income for basic needs like food and shelter. It should be illegal and an abuse of human rights for an advanced nation to leave a person with no food or shelter and having to rely on the little help that charities offer.

In advanced society we have a surplus problem so there is no problem with covering citizens basic needs if it is done properly. Already in places like France corporations are being forced to give away left over stock to charity. This stock may as well be consumed by basic citizens using their basics cards. If done right this idea can give value to waste. It can also help move the world to cashless society. And since state covers basic needs of base citizens it would not be unreasonable to require a month or two of nonmilitary national service of citizens on basics card. Nonmilitary national service could be anything - like unskilled labour, services, driving an uber car etc. There are ways that this could work well for everyone and make valuable reserves of the unemployed. It could be done in a way that made society  so stable it would be the end of history.

Agree. Giving citizens a certain sum of money will keep them live a stable life. It is a good example to learn from.

  • Will dropping of population restrict China’s development? 2018-12-20 04:52

The environment does matter, but I doubt the population of over 1 billion would drop to 0.1 billion so quickly. I habitually invite students to see these issues globally, and that way to habitually put comments about China's policies into a globally influential context, as is appropriate for a people who sit in the UN Security Council and who have significant gold reserves. A small % of people are concerned for the world facing water shortages. The global population has been doubling in half the time since the 1700s without any wars making a dent in the population explosion, and that is obviously the direct result of mismanaged banks making huge quantities of money freely available so people too easily live indoors and raise so many children. During the past few centuries, national policies were to increase populations because of fear of war with a neighbouring country. But in the past decade, we hear of military leaders in some countries starting to openly wish, online, that they could address threats to the environment as national threats to safety. However, my friends in philosophy point out that the evidence of natural disasters has not convinced some policy makers around the world. Of course, China is known for making green cities: a step toward sustainable urban development. Imagine a few countries in the world able to re-regulate banks and manage the economy to reduce the population explosion, manage international relations to live without fear of war, and so manage to lead international care for sustaining our environment. Walter Rothschild wrote a book listing extinct species of birds, so that our population explosion crowds many species out of life is known to bankers. I hope survival issues matter to policy makers in any country.
