Should We Celebrate Western Festivals?

Nowadays, more and more Chinese people tend to attach more importance to Western festivals, such as Christmas and Valentine's Day.According to a recent survey, college students celebrate Western festivals more often than other people. This phenomenon has aroused many people's attention.

Whether we should celebrate Western festivals has become a subject of heated discussion, and different people hold different views. Some people deem that celebrating Western festivals is beneficial to cultural communication. Not only can it enrich our daily lives, but also it can help us learn more about the world. While those who are against celebrating Western festivals believe that it can lead to the loss of traditional culture, so we should keep away from it and just leave it there.

As far as I'm concerned, our Chinese people should preserve the traditional culture as well as stay open to Western festivals. First of all, we all know that we have many Chinese festivals and they are the crystallization of Chinese culture. Besides, they are the most precious intangible cultural heritage. Therefore, we should not drop our own culture. Secondly, we can absorb western culture to broaden our horizons, but we can't follow it blindly.Last but not least, the government is obligated to take effective measures to appeal to protect and value our own culture. Only in this way, can we combine Chinese culture with Western festivals effectively.
