Left-behind children quit school for net bars

In today’s China, many children, especially those who live in the countryside have been left behind by their beloved parents, who wish to earn enough money for their family and children. Many of these children have derailed the correct track that normal children have. Children lodging in Naixi Village, Cuigezhuang Township, Chaoyang District have been reported to have been addicted to net bars here, by Beijing Youth Daily.

According to the report, like many other villages around Beijing, there are also many migrant workers lodging here, who bring their children along with them here too. In daytime, they go to their workplaces (many of them are construction sites) to work, and don’t have enough time to educate their children left behind at home or at school.

One of the migrant workers’ daughters says she is 15 and doesn’t want to study anymore, for in her view earning more money is more important than anything else. After all, she has witnessed many college graduates who cannot find suitable jobs to do even with higher educational backgrounds. When she told her parents she wanted to work, they refused at first but finally agreed after her insistence. According to her, nearly all the boys like her condition inside the village visit net bars. The sad fact is that the children like her condition are many in the village. One villager surnamed Liu says she often sees children hanging around with one another in the village. In her view, many such children are from migrant workers’ families, and these people have not been well-educated. Probably due to this reason, they don’t care about their children’s education or they really have no time to consider this question yet apart from living.

This is not a happy situation facing the children staying here, or other left-behind children in other parts of China. They need good education and care rather than only rented apartments, sheds or net bars.

Yes, that's very true. Government and every one of us should do something for their good. Children are the hope of China.

I was in Zhejiang when I saw a street opera like this. It was very interesting to see a Chinese opera on the street for free. There was a pretty big crowd there, but I could still see the play. It was days like this that made the Chinese culture so interesting to me. Unfortunately I didn't get to share it with anyone, this was before I used Wechat. I liked how you could enjoy special treats for only 1 or 2 yuan, and even gamble a little bit.
