Hello!  I have started to learn Mandarin Chinese.  It will be my third language.  My first language is English, and my second language is Spanish.
嗨!我已经开始学习中国普通话。这将是我的第三语言。我的第一语言是英语,而我的第二语言是西班牙语。

It was not too hard for me to learn Spanish in the past, but I was much younger then.
这不是太难为我学习西班牙语,在过去,但我年轻得多呢。

By comparison, Chinese is a much more difficult language.  Also, now my brain cells are much older!
相比较而言,中国是一个更加困难的语言。另外,现在我的脑细胞是老得多!

So, I was very happy when I discovered Pinyin!
所以,我很高兴,当我发现拼音!

For now, I will learn words and pronunciation.  Later, I will learn the Chinese characters.
现在,我会好好学习的单词和发音。后来,我将学习中国文字。

But please tell me when I write something incorrectly!
但请告诉我,当我写的东西不正确!

As  you  did  with  Spanish ,  learning  should  begin with  from the easy  to  the  difficult ;
What  you  say  in  Chinese  is  complicated ,  that  shows  your  third  language  is  already  good !

Agree with you there. Without ping yin I would have a hard time writing Chinese, too.

Hey, your Chinese writing is not bad at all. Pinyin, characters, and pronunciation should be learned together, hand in hand

I remember when a friend first explained to me about Pinyin.  I was so excited to know about it.  It made me change my mind about learning Chinese!

Oh no!!  It was not my intention to mislead people into thinking I write Chinese.  I cannot write it at all!      I should have explained....I use Google Translate to write for me.  Even later, after I learn some characters, I'm not sure how to make my computer write them...???

But I like what you say about learning the characters together with Pinyin and pronunciation.  I am very interested in the characters.  It seems that many of them (or maybe all?) are rich in symbolism in the way they are formed.  So I think I will start studying them soon.

I have a friend who only study pinyin and conversation, and her Chinese didn't improve a lot. Because Characters will help you to understand the structure and essentials of Chinese language.

If you study comprehensively like me, you can understand the meaning of a Character even though you didn't know how to pronounce it. Chinese often feels like this too. They know the meaning even though they cannot pronounce it.

And if you want to be able to write Chinese in your computer, you should try installing the language. What kind of OS do you use? Apple or Windows?
