The Arbitration Ruling, Disappointment in China and Gloating in the West

“China suffered a humiliating loss in arbitration and now it's more dangerous than ever”

A closer look at the above headline from the Western media shows that it was eagerly waiting for an opportunity to show its tendency to be negatively biased toward the Chinese causes regardless of their merits.

Most Western media venues rushed to gloat at the alleged Chinese loss in the arbitration since it ruled against its nine-line claims in the South China Sea. However, they ignore the fact that, according to the Chinese government, the ruling is not binding and it lacks legitimacy and contradicts international law.

Regardless of the nature of the ruling, it caused nothing but tremendous disappointment to the Chinese people and escalated their dormant resentment toward the negative and biased American views regarding the Chinese international causes.

Following the coverage of the ruling in the international venues of the media, one can see clearly that most outlets of the Western media seized the opportunity to claim that the Chinese ambitions are dangerous which contradict their actual essence of promoting peace.

The Chinese government officials emphasized repeatedly that China has no intention of competing for the prestige of being a superpower. China strives to play a major role in on the world stage by helping underdeveloped countries in their struggle to combat poverty which will lead to promoting peaceful collaboration worldwide.

Contrary to the Western reaction to the ruling, disappointed Chinese poured into the streets to protest the illogical interference of the American government in the regional dispute between two neighboring nations and its direct support of the Philippine cause against its Chinese counterpart.

The Chinese government believes that the conflict could be resolved peacefully through direct negotiation with the government of the Philippine.

Analytical experts believe that the ruling puts China in an awkward position. China will have two options neither of which will lead to a satisfactory outcome.

The first option is ignoring the ruling, which is based upon its repeated emphasis that the arbitration lacks legitimacy. That would anger the international community and may lead to isolating China from its neighbors.

If the Philippine keeps on ignoring the Chinese initiative of inviting it to engage in constructive negotiation between the two neighboring nations, the conflict may lead to military confrontation and undesired war between them. That would provide the USA a chance to get involved and that would have disastrous consequences worldwide.

The second option would be abiding by the ruling which would causes uproar within China and lead the Chinese Communist party to lose face. That appears to be unlikely option for the Chinese government.

A wise and logical third option would be putting aside the ruling and engaging in negotiation between China and the Philippine to come to terms that would reasonably satisfy both sides of the conflict. The Western countries should acquire enough courage to stay away from the negotiation in order to avoid escalating the conflict.

Universally, people, hope that wisdom and the profound desire for harmonious coexistence between the countries in the region will triumph and the conflict would be resolved peacefully in order to eliminate the tension in the region and restore the neighborly relation between China and  the Philippine.

“Most Western media venues rushed to gloat at the alleged Chinese loss in the arbitration since it ruled against its nine-line claims in the South China Sea.“

As does China whenever something goes wrong in the west. The Chinese media does the very thing it accuses the west of.

Another garbage propaganda piece. Propaganda from both sides when the real argument is that this issue is not whether the arbitration should be correct or not but how to solve an issue with no objective answer. (Thats right, this is a subjective issue)

Thoughtful westerners don't "gloat" over this. The western involvement comes because giant, powerful China is bullying small, weak Philippines; and the 9-dash-line is a ridiculous claim.

'If the Philippine keeps on ignoring the Chinese initiative of inviting it to engage in constructive negotiation between the two neighboring nations, the conflict may lead tot military confrontation and undesired war between them.'

that makes it sound like China is threatening the Philippines.
China was offered the opportunity to engage in negotiations overseen by a neutral international organisation, present proof of legitimate 'ownership'/ control of the disputed area, yet chose to respond with what can only be described as whining rather than appear as a mature participant in international affairs.

Oh please.  The Chinese government is spouting off propaganda and not fact.  The ruling went against them because of this. Utterly ridiculous.  Try and exercise some critical thinking please.  There is a reason why most people here are disagreeing with what you wrote.

On what grounds? You are reading too much western press. (Or Jenflex's posts).

Admittedly, Donald Trump is what is called an unorthodox political figure, loud and as you said, impulsive as evidenced by his seemingly off-the-cuff tweets.
Nevertheless, people may get used to his unpredictability over time, or even start to enjoy the drama surrounding him. You may find the US political scene too drab after Donald Trump steps down as president. lol.
