A father and daughter who are both craft experts recently exhibited a series of special panda-shaped paper-cuttings at an exhibition during the China International Import Expo in Shanghai to promote local art and culture.

The panda pictures they made were based on the character Jinbao, who was widely promoted as the mascot of the Expo.

The exhibition showcased 15 distinctive types of local crafts that are each officially listed as intangible cultural heritages in Shanghai.

It was not the first time that Li Shoubai and his daughter Li Shiyi have cooperated, but it was the first time that they had attended such a high-level gathering in the coastal city.

Their main paper-cutting designs showed Jinbao holding a clover, the symbol and shape of the convention center.

The designs attracted many visitors, and together they made over 200 versions within two days.

Since her childhood, Li Shiyi has learned paper-cutting skills from her father, so she is quick and highly proficient at the delicate art.

Upon the graduation from University of Westminster in the UK, Li Shiyi established a company, aimed at promoting distinctive Shanghai-style culture and art with all her efforts.

At the gathering, Li Shoubai also created paper-cuttings with traditional elements such as the Chinese dragon, frogs, and the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower.

Li Shiyi's works were more aimed at the younger generation, including pictures like the Minion Yellow and Peppa Pig characters.
