Locals in Yangfang Village, southwest China's Guizhou province, have been successfully increasing their incomes since 2016 by growing a native strain of eco-friendly, multi-colored rice.

The innovative initiative was developed with support from local officials and professors from the Agricultural College of Zhejiang University, in east China's Zhejiang province.

During the summer season, the special rice grows fast. When it matures, the grains turn one of five colors, such as black, purple, white, pink or fuchsia.

In 2017, the rice grown in 13 acres of colored paddy was sold out. Meanwhile, the total income of the harvest reached 500,000 yuan.

This year, the villagers have increased the growing area of the rice to more than 16 acres.

Look how poor you are! Can you even believe how poor you are? You had no idea just how poor you were did you. You should have never been born. Your simple parents have gifted you a life that is some kind of hell. Go to uni don't go to uni - you will never escape this hell!

These girls would be a lot happier if they never knew about the city wouldn't they. And now they know how poor they are and they will always feel shame about it especially in China. The journalist just wanted to poison their simple minds and he/she would have gotten a perverse pleasure from doing that.
