Good to Be Young

Yesterday, after the sun hided its face and mystery black dyed the sky as usual, a crowd of crazy men kept shouting at Girl’s Dorm, and were desperate to grasp the attention of one very girl who lives on the seventh floor. They were grads for sure, for I have been hearing their voices annually at almost the same season.

“…loves…” they shouted with enthusiasm, happiness and a little shyness, but their voices sounded muffled, and their lines were simple and crude. This year’s guy seemed to be much blunter and less romantic than their predecessors, I couldn’t help thinking. Last year, what their predecessors did was unforgettable: There was one guy hired some of his friends managed to lead his heart girl out and standing with him in the middle of lighted candles in a heart-shaped unexpectedly. And there was one guy made a song for his heart girl and sang it at midnight, which rocked and drew much attention from girls as well as school security guards. But whatever, they were all very lovely.

One of my roommates couldn’t help standing their muffled voices but shouted out from the window: “what on earth do you guys want to say? Who loves who?” And one of the grads outside replied: “×××loves the girl who lives on the second floor just shouted.” We all burst out laughing and answer back our words: “Don’t transfer your feelings so quickly!”

The boys outside did take our advice and called out the very girl’s name clearly and decisively. But they didn’t get any answer from that girl. At last, one of them said loudly, apparently with some disappointment: “I am heading back…I am heading back!”

Though it was not a happy ending, it was a courageous act that reflected they were young once. I am looking forward to their new actions.
