Why does this festival have two different names?

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival will be celebrated on September 30, 2012.
This festival has two different names:
“中秋”      and“仲秋”
Which one is correct?

We all know there are four seasons in China. And according to traditional Chinese lunar calendar, the twelve months are separated into four seasons.

Season 季节[jì jié]孟月 first仲月 second季月 third
Spring JanuaryFebruaryMarch
SummerAprilMayJune
AutumnJulyAugustSeptember
Winter OctoberNovemberDecember

中秋 refers to the 15th day of the eight lunar month.

仲秋 refers to the second month in the Autumn season or the eight month of the lunar calendar.

Difference between these two names :
中秋 refers to a specific day while 仲秋 refers to the month.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all!
