Very good! Taiwan UMC suing US Micron in China for IP infringement

This post was edited by tenderloin at 2018-1-19 05:06

Micron suing UMC in US for leaking DRAM memory technology to China as UMC forming a JV in China.

In return, UMC suing Micron for IP infringement in China.

Smart ruling for Chinese court is to make Micron pay $100million in damage to UMC.

And banning Micron memory product after 2 years in China
Why 2 years? Because memory price is high, supply tight, but after 2 years, China supplier will be ready in 2 years and take over Micron from that point.

This way US Micron will be kicked out from China and using Taiwan UMC case as the catalyst.

Intel just admitted that their chips have design flaws which allow hackers to snoop on data stored in the cache. China should ban Intel CPUs in government offices for national security reasons.

Indeed,  China 'was' spending more on overseas chips than crude oil imports, but things are changing...
In 2014, Beijing set up China's Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund to support the sector and spur private financing...
One of the biggest beneficiaries was Tsinghua Unigroup, the parent company of Spreadtrum.
Earlier 2017, it signed financing deals worth 150 billion yuan to carry on R&D into new homegrown chips to join the ranks of global giants, such as Intel Corp, Qualcomm and Samsung Electronics Co.
Kirin 970, with super fast computing and strong image-recognition capabilities powers Huawei's new Mate 10 smartphone, to compete with Apple Inc's 10th-anniversary iPhone.
