A month of warm breezy spring is here! Koreans are especially jolly and busy during this month and this is because May is often called the “Family Month”. With warm weather and diverse events and festivals on the way, many families and couples are making plans for picnics for the month of May.

Almost all countries have special days to celebrate the meanings of family and love. However, Korean’s May is called the “month of family” for a reason; almost all family-related holidays are packed into the month of May!

One of them is Parent's Day, which falls on May 8. Parent’s Day is a Korean combination of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. It is a day to commemorate the efforts of the parents in raising their children- physically, psychologically, emotionally and socially. Although it is not a national holiday, it is still very much an important holiday on the Korean calendar.

On this very day, students from a high school invited their moms to school and washed their feet as a way to express their gratitude.

Whether it is a formality or not, it is still great to at least do something for your moms.

So what's your plan to say thanks to your moms with the coming Mother's Day?
