Had a bit of chuckle when I read this article...

... thinking about the anolgies between the original Great Wall from the Imperial Days and its modern successor in the People's Republican era.  As much as there is this idea that a high enough, thick enough, wall can keep the world at bay - there more than a few other ideas about adapting/absorbing/adopting from the environment around you to become something better over time - less becoming obsolete.  As with the Mongols before, there is no doubt that more than a few adversaries are taking more asymetrical approaches to getting what they want from P.R. China - especially when there is a treasure trove of information left open and ripe for the taking.
