Share Proof Of The Truth
2013-5-14 06:52
Just this week, I had more 'proof of the truth' in the statement, 'We see others as WE are; not as THEY are.' I have someone in my life who constantly asserts that I have a certain problem with someone in the past that I can't get over. The assertion that they made is not only not true, its a bit humorous for me. They've displayed many attitudes and actions that in fact it is them who has the problem, not me. When they first made this assertion, I took a very long, honest look at m ...

Share Money's Not That Important
2013-5-12 20:46
It was almost amusing recently when a lady here on the China Daily blog said that I equated success to making money. Amusing because I hardly mentioned money and also, because its very far from the truth. Success to me means achievement and living a life of significance. There have been times in my life when I had no money and many other times where I had very little money. However, I've always set goals and have worked hard to achieve those goals. I've always tried to better the lives of ot ...

Share Making Love - Living Love
2013-5-12 08:46
MAKING LOVE - LIVING LOVE We all know what we mean by 'making love.' (HA! Got your attention!) But there is something I like to call 'living love.' Especially in a romantic relationship of the heart. A woman needs a man's time. She needs his undivided attention. Perhaps to talk. Perhaps for affection. Perhaps just for his presence. She needs to feel that she is the most amazing and important person is his life. She needs his words and actions that make her feel like the most wonderful woman ...

Share The PPT Of Your Life
2013-5-12 07:31
I've been preparing a PPT (PowerPoint) presentation, along with some colleagues, to give to several hundred students at a local university this week. I started thinking about our conscious mind as a PPT presentation. We are constantly seeing images. Most of the images we see are from our past. Many of them are slides of images that made a deep emotional impression. T hese are the slides that we replay most often. However, once in a while, we see a slide ...

Share Some People Will Treat You Bad - Do You Agree?
2013-5-12 04:04
Do you agree? I read once, "You teach others how to treat you." A lot of truth in this. You teach them most often by what you allow. If you tolerate bad treatment from others, you are teaching them that its o.k. to treat you badly. First, you begin with a mindset that is clear on how you want to be treated. Second, you follow that with training yourself how to treat others. Treat others the same way you want to be treated. Then, third, you decide what you will allow in how others treat ...

Share Life Is School
2013-5-11 10:38
What if one day, the day we die, we discover that our lives were simply a lesson or a course that we take in school? How would you do? What would be your score? How well did you attend class? How well did you pay attention to the teacher? Did you do your homework? What about 'pop quizzes'? You know, those day to day challenges that come up as a surprise? I really think that life is very much like school. Perhaps school is a micro-version of life. You have different teachers in your life. Mayb ...

Share How To 'Get Life Right'
2013-5-9 03:40
There are so many decisions to make in life. We place a high value on things like, which career should we be pursuing, what others think of us, what we think others think of us, how much money we have, how much money we make, can we find genuine love in our lives and others. I am one who seeks to find peace and happiness in life. I was married for nearly 30 years to a woman in the U.S. We had a sad marriage and she was rarely happy. She divorced me years ago and soon married a man that she wa ...

Share A Lesson From Ancient Chinese Leader
2013-5-6 01:41
For some very strange reason that I don't completely understand, since I came to China 21 months ago, seemingly 'coincidence' has been a way of life. One recent example (just yesterday) is, I was in a park at an English corner (a place where people gather to practice spoken English) where I go every Sunday morning. I go there to teach lessons for free to many very interested and dedicated English students. They range in age from 5 years old to over 70 years old. A lesson tha ...

Two nights ago, I was having dinner with a new teacher, a bilingual assistant and one of our top students. I invited them to dinner. We talked about the transitions that are taking place in our program and how I will be teaching only VIP classes in the future and focusing more on administrative responsibilities. After we finished eating, the student asked to talk to me. She said, "Michael, will you give me a ride to my room on your e-bike?" I said that I would. Once she got on the ...

Share How To Save A Lot of Money on Education
2013-5-3 10:10
Colleges and universities have a reputation of high standards in the USA. When I attended the university, a few decades ago, college and university was considered to be much more demanding for students than high school. Today, high schools are much better at preparing students for college and I hear from many students, college isn't quite so difficult. A western college degree is obviously quite valuable here in China and the East. Over 200,000 students from China alone, are studying in the U ...

Ture but most Chinese return to China Plus if your have not mastered English a degree from Harvard with a 75% average means nothing. Now if you end up in the top 10% of your class then by all means it is better. But really how many Chinese end up in the top 10% in any USA university? Maybe 1 out of 10,000.If you do not want to return to China then yes Harvard Degree is better.
