Zhou Mengjia, an 18-year-old aerobics athlete, who enrolled at Peking University in July by virtue of her sports achievements, has become a hit on the Internet in China.

The college lowered its admission score for her by 219 points to allow her to join. Meanwhile, Zhou has practiced aerobics for four hours every day since she was seven.

In 2012, she attended the 2nd Sports Meeting of east China's Zhejiang Province on behalf of her hometown Wuzhou, taking part in the individual and group events.

In the primary round, she hurt her right leg as she was trying to finish a highly difficult act.

Trying not to encumber her teammates, she rejoined the following matches after taking some painkillers.

Thanks to her persistence, she won in both categories in the end.

After the games, she was sent to the hospital and was soon told that she could no longer do aerobics any more. It was a great shock, she remembers.

Her family searched for treatment for her all around the country and finally found a doctor specialized in sports medicine who cured her injury completely.

In 2013, after her recovery, Zhou took part in the National Aerobics Championship and won the title.

In 2014, in the 4th Aerobic Gymnastic Asian Championships, she gained the gold medal with her two teammates and a silver one as an individual.

Zhou worked hard on aerobics as well as her studies in an effective way.

During her high school life, she had persisted in getting up at 5 a.m. to review knowledge from the previous day.

Her academic as well as aerobic performances attracted two top universities:Tsinghua University and Peking University. Finally, she chose to study law at Peking University.

For the coming college life, she said that she won't give up aerobics and is confident that she can balance her school work and daily training.
