Tensions have been rising between North Korea and US, but do you believe is war imminent?

(BBC) State media said Hwasong-12 rockets would pass over Japan and land in the sea about 30km (17 miles) from Guam, if the plan was approved by Kim Jong-un.

It denounced Donald Trump’s warnings of "fire and fury" and said the US leader was "bereft of reason".

The US has warned the North its actions could mean the "end of its regime".

US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said Pyongyang would be "grossly overmatched" in any war against the US and its allies.

The BBC’s Rupert Wingfield-Hayes, who is in Guam, says there is a sense that the North Korean threat is rhetorical, as most people feel that if they really did strike with missiles it would be suicidal for the North Korean regime.

The North first announced on Wednesday that it had been drawing up plans for a missile strike against Guam, a Pacific island which is home to US military bases, strategic bombers and about 163,000 people.

A later statement carried by state media said the military would "finally complete the plan" by mid-August and send it to leader Kim Jong-un for his approval.

"The Hwasong-12 rockets to be launched by the KPA [Korean People’s Army] will cross the sky above Shimane, Hiroshima and Koichi [Kochi] Prefectures of Japan," state news agency KCNA said, quoting army chief General Kim Rak Gyom.

"They will fly 3,356.7km for 1,065 seconds and hit the waters 30-40km away from Guam."

The Hwasong missiles are North Korea’s domestically produced medium and long-range weapons.

Kim may be crazy but he isn't stupid. Conversely Trump appears to be both.
(mostly harmless)

"30-40km away from Guam" is more humane than direct ground zero hit over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, wouldn't you say?

Poor Kim, pushed by US and UN... for him that might be only way to pursue the freedom of small countries.
I forgot how to forget.

US President Donald Trump simply debases himself. He thinks that having rhetoric response to North Korea shows his lingual skills but harm US more than anything else. US CIA is said to be so great, but allowed North Korea to grow into a threat too great that US seems to be not able to control. ALL THE MONEY POURED IN BY US TAXPAYERS IS DOWN THE DRAIN. CIA staff fed and grew fat!
SHAME ON US! DISGRACE IS EXHIBITED BY US PRESIDENT TRUMP.
If US dare, then simply turn North Korea leader Kim into a hen!
We will celebrate it. Otherwise, Trump is grown into a hen!

"30-40km away from Guam" is more humane than direct ground zero hit over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, wou ...

US nukes against imperial Japan were (unfortunately) were needed to bring the war to a swift end, instead of needing to a long and costly (to both sides) ground invasion. Even (or in particular) China could look different today (for better or worse), if USA had been forced to launch such invasion.

DPRK's display against Guam would not help anything. It would not prevent or stop war, if such is to come, only speed escalation toward it.
