I saw this video years ago.  All he says is that he is proud to be the physical property of the Em ...

If you have really seen and listened to the video free from personal bias about political systems, you wouldn't be so hasty to tar him ad hominem, surely the first sign of not having anything honest to say about the points he raised.

He spoke of the meritocratic organizational mechanism that grooms each by baptism of experience up to  the State leadership;  is there any equivalent in other systems, for that matter the size and plurality of the population, breadth and diversity of the geography, intricacies and depth of the history?

Secondly, he came from Shanghai to study at Berkeley; have you forgotten Berkeley was the hotbed of American activism? Knowing that, why was he allowed to enroll at Berkeley if he was a 'property' and yet then ended up speaking intelligently and factually for the system of China despite all the freedom?

Finally, if what he said did not make sense, why.was.he.given.a.standing.ovation.by.the.entire.hall.of.westerners?

I just want to add one observation. One cnbc journalist said China's central command economy has failed. Exactly what weed has she been smokin'? If China's central command economy has failed, how did it come up in one generation to be Number Two, soon One in the coming years?

The meta-narrative of anglo-saxon minions is about sinophobia. They fear China's rise and so try to contain it by tarring, splittism, perversions, and a variety of other devices already long recorded in the histories of so many countries they have devastated.  Why don't you essay something on Iraqi WMDs, or Washington's Swamp, or gunboat 'diplomacy' for instance?  Or are these too much for a male bee of the western political farce?

There are many other points but i'm moving on to international law and its relation to ...Darjeeling tea...since to dignify your risque comment further is to do unjustifiable justice to someone who needs to change his deodorant, as it already reeks of someone else hiding behind another addy.

Hello Chinese guy,

My name is Fred Johnson.  My nationality is Western.  We are a failed people.   ...

I couldn't find the emperor of China. Pls. let me know if you can find one.
The most childish thing is when a child always thinks he's an adult.

And its foolish to think your people has grown up, yet the case is just the opposit. The westerners are so childish to think they are being respected as anindividual and have equal rights. However in the reality, they can nerver get what they want in voting or anything they call democracy. Besides replacing one stupid leader with another. And how many of them can participate in politics? 0.000001% or wot? All they can do is just senselessly dropping pieces of paper into a box.

Keep in mind, a kid is not an adult even if he believes so.

If you have really seen and listened to the video free from personal bias about political systems,  ...

You missed the point of this thread.  It is irrelevant if the failed Caucasian race gave a standing ovation.

The OP asked why Chinese people are happy being the physical property of the Emperor?

Keep in mind that the Emperor owns the meritocratic system you mention.  He created the system to find the best people to serve him faithfully, like trained dogs.  And since China's Emperor rotates every ten years, the Emperor has to find the best candidate to scratch his back once he hands over power to the next Emperor.  The retiring Emperor is going to need special favors, so he has to pick a very corrupt person who will scratch his back.

And yes, the Emperor needs to send his human property abroad to study so they can come back to China and make money for the Emperor with their Western education.  The Emperors are always billionaires and need to feed their lifestyle.

But, it is fine if the Chinese are happy being the physical property of the Emperor.  China is a sovereign nation  and has the right to live the way they want.  I have no desire to invade China.  I am just a scientist and want to understand the psychological mechanism in the Chinese brain that makes them happy being the physical property of the Emperor.

And no need to get defensive and attack the West.  The OP and others already said the West has failed.  They admit it.  We just want to know why Chinese believe they are not also a failed people.

If you were not the physical property of the Emperor, then why does he get to visit any website in the world he wants, and get to say anything he wants, but he forbids the rest of you from reading and viewing anything you want, and saying anything you want?  You are his physical property.  But, that is just fine, if it makes you happy.

Why are you attacking the West?  Mr. Fred Johnson has already admitted that the West has failed.  He is just asking why China is happy being the physical property of the Emperor.  Do you not have the cognitive ability to answer this?  Instead of answering it, you create a straw man argument by attacking the non-existent claim that West is great, when Mr. Johnson said right off from the start that the West has completely failed and is doomed.

So, why are Chinese people happy being the physical property of the Emperor?

I don't think people here are appreciating the OP and Mr. Johnson.  They are Westerners that have admitted that the West has completely failed.  This takes a lot of humility and honesty and objectivity.

So, the question being asked now is, Is China also a failed nation?  Is this a matter of subjective opinion?

Can a nation be considered successful when their societal hierarchy consists of two positions - Emperor and Slave?  Or is whether such a system can be said to be successful or not simply in the eye of the beholder?

I say it is in the eye of the beholder.  If the slaves are happy being slaves, then I say it is a successful system, for in the end, is not the goal to have a nation where the citizens are happy?

The problem is we don't even know who the emperor is.

If talking history, even the west all had their emperors too.Actually it makes people sick and tired of hypocritic double standards invented by the west. It's ok that the west had emperors yet it's not ok China had emperors. Take a look, the kings are right there in Britain and Japan.
