Can Anyone Guarantee Your Success?

"If you are not afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve." - Lao Tzu

It was the famed humorist and author, Mark Twain, who said, "I'm not much afraid of dying since I was dead for billions and billions of years before I was born and I have never been much inconvenienced by it."

Courage isn't the absence of fear. It is feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Everyone feels fear. When given the 'flight or fight' options, most of us would rather 'take flight'. We don't want to fight. We fear failure. We fear pain. We fear death.

But, when you consider what Twain said, you realize that prior to the beginning of your life, you were dead and/or didn't exist. So you realize that death is really, as we say in the West, 'no big deal.' One man said, "I will succeed or I will die trying." Well, I've never heard of anyone who 'died trying' to be successful. Success won't kill you. Trying to achieve success won't kill you.

When faced with the options of trying to achieve something, even something that seems impossible, by all means try. Trying won't kill you. Some will say, "What if I fail?" A rare few will say, "What if I succeed?" Some will say, "What will my family and friends think of me?" I believe that if your family and friends are somehow against your success, well, at the very least, you should find some new friends (sorry but, you have to live with your family).

I love to see others succeed. I love to help them succeed. I want to be a part of their success, for, in so doing, I'm making my own success. Jealousy of someone else's success is most often an excuse for your own laziness or unwillingness to try. Risk is simply venturing into the unknown.

When I came to China, no one knew me. I'd gain a respectable level of notoriety in the U.S.A. because of my book, Powerful Attitudes (and a few others I wrote). But, no one in China knew about that. I was completely unknown. Simply a middle school teacher who had to find and make his own way. But, I did it. And, I did it fast. I worked hard, cared about teaching English to Chinese students, never said 'no' to an opportunity, possessed my own 'powerful attitude'. As a result, I've met with success. I tripled my income (even though I had no need to do so) and have gained a wonderful platform to help others through my writing and my educational efforts here.

You might wonder, 'how long does it take to gain success?' Or, 'how long do I need to work hard to be successful?' I like to say it this way. A great lesson I learned from Colonel Harland Sanders, the founder of KFC. He said, "You work hard, have faith UNTIL you reach your goals." How long do you work hard? Its simple. You do it UNTIL.

Success is guaranteed to those who refuse to give up. The pain you will experience in gaining success is much less than the pain of never trying and someday, wishing you would have.

I hardly mention money. Success is when you make others successful. You obviously have a focus on money to think I've said much about it. All I did was barely mention it.  However earning more money than I need gives me the ability to help others in need. And as I've said, helping others is true success.

Money is necessary for life. Not just for yourself but to do the things that fulfill your heart's desires like for me, helping others. Living out your purpose as I said before. But I simply have a mention about money. It is not the primary goal. I find that those who see others pursuing money, themselves have a focus on it. I know myself. I know my own life. I know my own mind; heart and soul. Money is simply not the priority in my life.
