My Love For Chinese Food

Tonight, I taught an English Phonics class to 6 primary students. One of the parents came and wanted to prepare my dinner for me and have it ready after the class. She asked me what I wanted. I'm not very picky and really didn't know what to say. Someone suggested dumplings, but, I asked her if she knew how to cook stuffed peppers. She said that she could and she took off to the market on the first floor of my building to get what she needed.

After class, she not only had prepared the stuff peppers, but also thinly sliced beef with tea string mushrooms (I think that's what they're called). It was out of this world delicious. The stuffed peppers were great too. She also fixed some very delicious leek. Amazing food.

Americans only know Chinese food from restaurants in the USA. They don't know authentic Chinese food like I get here in Henan. One of the main things we don't know is that your food has a lot of peppers and spices and is so tasty. There is little that I won't eat (stinky tofu is one I won't eat; just can't get past the smell).

I told everyone who sat down to eat with us, "If we had a restaurant in Texas where I lived that served food like this, we could all get massively rich." I'm serious. It is THAT good!

I encounter a lot of different dishes. I eat out about 30-40% of the time. Rarely have I found food I didn't like. In fact, I can't remember. I've encountered some that was a little too expensive for what you got, but, that too has been rare.

This is only ONE of the reasons I like living here in China.

    Great story.

I think foreigners are advanced on writing (working)style that we could see if we compare the dictionary of English and Chinese with each other! Chinese scientists and teachers must tell stories in plain words to children and leave more free space for the latter to do logical thinking all by themselves. That is the direction of Chinese education-reform. We must first realize our disadvantages on schooling and then do some operations for changing and improvement!  Never copy foreign things on appearance!
