Most Powerful Leadership Secret

Popularity 5Viewed 7154 times 2014-1-14 20:12 |System category:Economy| leadership, practice, General, company, leading

Whether you are leading a company, a classroom, a church or family, this is insight that you need to know. It is only one great practice that powerful leaders like John Stumpf of Wells Fargo and the very famous Jack Welch of General Electric, used and believed to be their most powerful leadership tool.

It's simple but few know how to  use it.

When dealing with employees (followers), use 3 parts praise and 1 part correction. Never correct someone who you've not first genuinely praised. If you're correcting for you own ego boost, then you can do it anyway you want. But, if you are correcting for authentic results then adopt this strategy. I've used it for 30 years. I get results and I get loyalty. My results come rather fast.

Find 3 things that you know your employee does very well. Tell them about it. It's even better if one of the things you praise them for is connected to what needs correction. The praise opens their emotional mind to allow you to give them whatever correction you deem is needed. It is simply understanding human nature and how it works. It's not about simply trying to be a nice guy and make everyone like you. It is about how to gain genuine respect from people and get heard.

If you're in a position to do so, try it  and see how it works. Your employees might be shocked at first, but you'll still see positive results.
