Think of Best Age for Starting English Training

Part Three

The policy is bound to bring direct impact to English education both schools and private education sectors.

There will be a significant reduction of English teaching time in school.

And the private education sectors are supposed to find their new ways out to survive.

Without the overwhelming pressure from gaokao, they both will put more emphasis on quality English training and how to stimulate students’interest and enthusiasm in learning English,as well as help develop character and independence.

The reform will turn out to be more fair for students from the town and country, the developed and underdeveloped areas, regardless of their wealth, poverty or level and ability.

As before,English closely relating to education and career created a huge demand for English tutoring. For sometimes it played a more dominant role for further education and career development.

This has spawned a booming industry teaching students tricks to pass the tests, and it proved to be a lucrative industry of test-prep schools and English training centers, which profited from a rising middle class willing to send their children to overseas universities.

Among them are New Oriental Education and Technology Group and Li Yang Crazy English.

But when come to English education,we must be calm and stay reasonable rather than crazy.

Whether you can have a good grasp of English, depends on how much effort and time you put,not the money.

So we frequently ask what English-learning-method is more natural, scientific, feasible and reasonable.

Interest is the best teacher.Learning English for fun, which will make your life colorful and meaningful. If it brought you too much pressure, obviously you are going a wrong way.

Learning is a life-long career. It’s a process of accumulation day by day. Do be patient.

“You can't get fat from eating a single mouthful” goes a saying in China.

Practices make perfect.Persistence is virtue.Never give up.The key to success is perseverance.

The more you speak English the easier English will be.

The more mistakes you’ve made, the faster your English will be improved.

English-learning often means rote memorization in China.

Plus its grammarsyntax and structure is completely different from Chinese, which make it boring and harder to be understood and learnt.

There is no fun,no enthusiasm and initiative,no interactions.

In this way,we are pushed to learn it by teachers and a variety of tests.

Students have been studying it very hard in this passive way from grade one in primary school all the way through high school even college just to get high scores to satisfy their parents and teachers.

As a Chinese, writing in English should be the top priority.

Because writing is active, while rote memorization is passive.

And students hate to cram up English words and grammars without actually need them just to get good marks in the exams.

Only initiatively and actively participate in the learning process, can we make a full command of English words.

And writing can reaches deep inside of us and gives full play to our imagination and inspiration in learning path.

Meanwhile, writing process will be full of creativity and innovation, which may bring us much fun and pleasure.

I like your “You can't get fat   from eating a single mouthful”.
English is a living language and is not like science that can be memorised. It is something you practice everyday; just like Chinese. As such finding ways to practice it in everyday settings is the most useful means of learning the language.
Good insight. Living there, I suppose you'll know better.

Thanks for your comment.
I personally think you got the point.
I'm a Chinese,English is a second language for us.
And I find I am just a layman to English all the time, just the same as you mentioned in your blog post that many Chinese students were having a hard time learning Mandarin which they seldom use in their daily writing in Singapore.
I feel difficult learning English too from begining to the end.

You are right to say that learning should be fun and entertaining. I find that learn Putonghua was easier when I watch Karaoke videos of Chinese song both from Taiwan, and China. Angus Tong ( Dong An Ke) and (Teresa Tang)Teng Le Chun with slow melodic lyrics helps a lot. Singer Teng was once my neighbor ialong Grange Road in Singapore. You should know where it is. Too bad she died of Asthma much too early.. I am not a native speaker of Putonghua. I had to learn it in my later years so that was my language journey. I am stll struggling with the Taiwan and China versions.

Unbelievable, you are so lucky,Teresa Tang 邓丽君 once was your neighbor. So great she is.
She is my idol.
And I suppose you were a Chinese before.
But I am sorry that I never heard of ialong Grange Road.
Even I seldom talked with those whose native language is English.

I never travel abroad, even travel a little in a few parts of China due to my meager income.
Most of my time,I was restrained to my hometown,a little county in China's hinterland.

With Internet, one can reach out to the world no matter where you are. Like now. You are lucky. In my time, the only media are books and Theaters and cinema ( movies)...sorry I was mistaken I thought you were from Singapore. Grange Road is near Botanical Garden in central Singapore. Yes as my handle suggest HUAREN. I am Chinese.
