Granddaughter Records Life of Grandpa with Photo Portraits

Shi Mengyao and her grandfather []

A series of photos of a young woman and her elderly grandfather recently inspired many citizens after they were widely shared on social media.

Shi Mengyao is from the city of Fushun in northeast China's Liaoning Province, where she was brought up by her grandparents. When she was 11, her grandmother passed away.

Later, she was recruited by an art troupe in the army and became a dancer. In those years, Shi seldom stayed at home and her grandfather lived alone.

In 2010, when Shi returned home after she performed in other places for nearly two months, she found that her grandfather had noticeably grown old and she thought that she should do something to record his life.

After that, Shi brought a camera and a tripod with her each time she returned. Accordingly, she took over 200 portraits of her and her grandfather.

From 2015, the old man was often been hospitalized as his health worsened. Shi said that she felt that her grandfather wanted to say more to her from watching his eyes. He passed away earlier 2017.

The special photos, as Shi's way of expressing her love for her grandfather, moved many netizens.
